Meet Dimitri, a recent U-turn graduate and Chris Dippenaar, U-turn’s Retail Operations Manager as they prepare to #cycleforpurpose from Plettenberg Bay to Stellenbosch in 8 days, 742 km and a 10 268m climb to share the U-turn message and raise R25,000 for the organisation.
Dimitri enjoys cycling and it is an honour for him to join the U-turn cycling adventure. He feels that through making a positive impact, he will be giving back to U-turn in return for everything they have done for him.
For him it will be a new experience and he looks forward to the adventure.
His message to the public is: “No matter where you come from, no matter what you’ve done, there is hope. Don’t look down on yourself, U-turn will be able to help you.”
Dimitri feels proud that he was able to complete the U-turn P3 Work-readiness programme and finish something positive in his life and can now be a father to his daughter.
Chris says: “I am motivated by a good adventure which forces me to take time out. Spending long hours in a saddle gives me time to reflect and take stock of my life and appreciate God’s beauty around me.”
His goal is to have fun, but at the same time #cycleforpurpose by raising funds and awareness around U-turn and the work we do. Chris believes that by inviting Dimitri to join him on the adventure it will be an amazing opportunity for him to experience something that he would never have thought possible just 2 years ago.
Their goal is to raise R25 000 and celebrate U-turn’s 25th birthday. With this adventure, Chris hopes to spread the message of hope that there is life after homelessness and that we can work together to find solutions to reduce homelessness.

Lekker Demitri and Chris
I’m jealous of your adventure you are going to have.. it will be interesting to see the route and how your adventure goes
I recently picked up cycling again and outside the u turn shop in Claremont I stopped to greet a cyclist.. isn’t it funny how we tend to acknowledge those people who we think we have something in common with , when in reality we have something in common with everyone , the ability to give joy and encouragement etc , so the cyclist turned out to be a person who works at the muizenberg branch , i was glad to hear that there was a branch in muizenberg, I remember u turn saying how they planned to open more “power houses” .
The cyclist (I think his name was johan or jacques) tall lean , fit looking guy.. had cycled from muizenberg to Claremont retail to use a voucher at the shop , how lekker , a cycle and a reward
Keep up the great work u turn
Best regards Craig
My name is Siphelele I would like to cycle to help raise the funds. I’m willing to be part of the process of helping people
