u-turn 25 birthday

In addition to providing a pathway out of homelessness, U-turn provides a bridge between the housed community and those who are not housed. Partnering with HVCID and HVA, is an opportunity to do both.

Three times a week U-turn’s first phase clients, who are still sleeping rough, join our third phase champions, who were formerly homeless, to walk along Imam Haron Road, 1st and 2nd Avenue in Claremont to clean the streets. Anyone is welcome to join to help clean up the community together. Bring a black bag, rubber gloves and a spade or wire to pick up rubbish.

You can join us Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2pm to 3pm, meeting outside the U-turn shop on Imam Haron Rd.

Also, we are partnering one Saturday every month, with the first event coming up on Saturday, September 18. From 9.30am to 13.00 we will be planting a succulent garden on the corner of Greenwood Road and 1st Avenue.

Please join us, and bring along one succulent / water-wise plant and a spade. We’re also needing more compost and rocks to mark out the flower beds.

If you’re interested in joining the gardening party on Saturday, 18 September to make our community beautiful, working alongside first and third phase U-turn clients to ask more about homelessness and responsible giving, then please Whatsapp Rowen Ravera-Bauer on 076 460 2987.
