Dear U-turn Supporters,

Thank you to everyone who celebrated our Annual Thanksgiving with us on August 31! Over 170 people joined us for one of our greatest celebrations yet. Can you spot yourself in the photos from the evening below?

We started the evening in prayer, giving thanks to God and everyone who has helped made the work we do possible. We then presented the results from our recent public survey alongside U-turn developments.

We shared news of our expansion to Parow, with the planned opening of another Service Centre and shifting our current laundry operations there. This allows us to dedicate more space to training and skills development (one of the key areas you asked U-turn to grow in our recent survey).

We also announced the upgrade to the back of the Powerhouse Service Centre building, which we will be using to host “sleep-outs”. More news on that to come!

We also were blessed to hear Life Change champ, Rodriguez Douglas, talk through his battle with addiction and life challenges, with insights into the solutions that he found, through his faith in God.

World Homeless Day is on October 10 – please mark the date. The word “homeless” has come to mean “hopeless” by society but at U-turn we have seen enough lives transformed to know that every homeless person who walks through our doors has potential to live a full and productive life.  We’ll be holding two events to change perceptions – stay tuned!
